Our Team:
My name is Marina DeSanto, and this will be my 7th year participating in the plunge and over the years we have become a team of 12 who jump religiously! I have a brother with down syndrome and have been fortunate to have participate in a lot of activities while he was in school. I’ve was a volunteer for Special Olympics held in Somerset when he was competing. I started looking into what we could do to raise money annually, it’s when I came across the Polar Bear Plunge which supports Special Olympics of NJ.
More about the Plunge:
The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into the frigid Atlantic waters during the month of February. Special Olympics NJ provides year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities and health screenings to more than 25,000 Athletes. Programs and services are always completely FREE thanks to fundraising events like the Polar Plunge. The plunge is presented by NJ Law Enforcement as part of the year-round fundraising of Law Enforcement Torch Run®.
Our Fundraiser:
We started a fundraiser to bring in more money to the cause, this is our second annual fundraiser which will be held at Cubanu Restaurant on 02.17.18 at 12:00PM- 5:00PM. All funds collected and donated at the fundraiser go directly into our team page as a donation: https://www.classy.org/team/
